Meridian Mutual

Carriers
Being independent only matters if the carrier list is real. Here is ours, what each one writes, and where each tends to price well.

Appetite changes constantly. We track which companies are hungry for your risk this quarter, not which one was cheapest three years ago.

Why independent
The three ways to buy insurance in Missouri and Kansas, and what changes for you in each.
| Independent agency | Captive agent | Direct carrier | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who they work for | You. We are appointed with fourteen companies and owe none of them a quota. | One carrier. Their product is the only product. | The advertiser. There is no agent in the middle. |
| When your rate jumps | We reshop the whole book before your renewal date. | They explain the increase. | You shop it yourself, from scratch. |
| At claim time | A named advocate here tracks your file with the adjuster. | The carrier's own claims process. | A call center queue. |
| What it costs you | Nothing extra. Commission is already inside the filed rate. | Same commission, one option. | Marketing budget is inside the rate too. |
If your question is not here, call the office. You will reach a licensed agent in Kansas City, not a queue.
A captive agent can only sell you one company's policy. We are appointed with fourteen carriers, so we enter your information once and compare real quotes across all of them. When your carrier files a rate increase, we reshop instead of asking you to accept it.
About five minutes online through our quote form, or roughly fifteen minutes on the phone if you want us to review limits as we go. If you send a photo of your current declarations page, we can usually return a written comparison the same business day.
No. Insurance carriers use a soft inquiry for a credit-based insurance score. It does not affect your credit score and does not appear to lenders as a hard pull.
Yes. Most carriers refund unearned premium on a pro rata basis. We time the new policy to start the moment the old one ends so there is never a lapse, which is one of the most expensive marks on an insurance record.
No. We are paid a commission by the carrier that writes your policy, and that commission is already inside the rate the carrier files. Working with us does not make the same policy cost more.
Send us your current declarations page and we will shop fourteen carriers, then tell you plainly whether moving is worth it.
No fee for our work. No obligation to switch. Usually a same-day written comparison.
